NorthTech Computer discontinues shipments of 32 bit computers. Except for special purpose-built systems, only 64 bit systems will be built and shipped in the future.

At this time, Intel does not have a 64 bit CPU suitable for implementation. Therefore, almost all systems shipped by NorthTech will be based upon the Sledghammer series of processors manufactured by AMD.

The Opteron for the desktop and many server platforms is an excellent machine unparalleled by anything that Intel will be shipping for at least six months. It supports 32 bit applications natively, unlike it's iTanium counterpart manufactured by Intel, and as a result can support the current plethora of 32 bit applications without any degradation in performance as well as powering 64 bit applications of the future.
